The pleating presser foot is used to form gathers in fabric.

 

You can gather a single fabric or gather it and join it to a second fabric at the same time.

 

Works best on lightweight to medium-weight fabrics. to medium-weight fabrics. The presser foot has a large needle opening to allow for various positions and a slot that opens to the left.

 

Note: A longer stitch length and tighter tension will produce more gathering.

Instructions for use:

To gather a single layer of fabric:
1. Securely attach the gathering foot.
2. Place the fabric under the foot and sew.
3. For a wider seam allowance, move the needle to the left.

To gather and join a second flat fabric simultaneously:
1. Securely attach the gathering foot.
2. Place the fabric to be gathered under the gathering foot facing up.
3. Place the fabric to be joined to the gathered fabric in the slot from the left-side opening with the right side facing down.
4. Sew, keeping the two layers of fabric aligned, but without pinning them to prevent them from shifting while they are being joined.
